How the organisation is arranged, what each function is accountable for, and how decisions are made and recorded.

Last updated 29 August 2026 — Draft for review. Corporate details, named roles and vacancy information to be confirmed before publication.

How we are organised

The organisation is arranged around the work rather than around job titles. Five functions carry named accountability, and each is answerable for outcomes rather than activity.

  • Product and design — what is built, why it is worth building, and whether the result can actually be used by the people it is for.
  • Engineering — the platform, its correctness, its performance and its resilience.
  • Payment operations — the daily movement of funds, reconciliation, exception handling and partner coordination.
  • Risk and compliance — financial crime controls, regulatory obligations, independent challenge and reporting.
  • Customer support — the people who answer, investigate and follow through.

Named accountability

Certain roles are held by named individuals because the law requires it or because ambiguity would be dangerous. These include the officer accountable for money laundering reporting, the person accountable for data protection, and the person accountable for operational resilience.

Each of those roles has the authority to stop an activity. None of them reports to a commercial function, so a control decision cannot be overruled on revenue grounds.

How decisions are made

Material technical and product decisions are written down before they are implemented, with the problem, the options considered, the decision and its consequences. The record is kept and is reviewable later, which makes it possible to understand why something was built the way it was.

Decisions that change how money moves require review by both engineering and risk. Decisions that change what a customer sees on a screen that moves money require review by design and by compliance for language accuracy.

How we work

Work is delivered in small increments, each tested before the next begins. A change that touches financial records must ship with tests that prove the records still balance. Nothing reaches customers on the strength of a screenshot.

Incidents are reviewed without blame and with a written outcome. The question asked is what allowed the failure to reach a customer, not who typed the change.

Joining the team

Open roles are listed on the Careers page. We hire for judgement, precision and the willingness to say when something is wrong, and we assess with work that resembles the job rather than with puzzles that do not.
